Shen Jun Movement Effect is an international company based in Austin, with ties to China and the United States. We combine dance, theater, martial arts, interpretive movement, and music. We mount our performances in traditional theaters and in alternative and outdoor spaces.
Our mission is to bring dance out of the concert halls and into the streets, into people’s lives. Dance began as a communal event and we are here to keep it that way.
We are particularly focused on reaching the Asian community in Austin, the city's fastest growing demographic. Our work blends Eastern and Western influences, tai-chi with modern dance, ancient myths and comic books, with an emphasis on finding common ground while celebrating difference.
